Negotiations between the Writers Guild of America - the union that represents film and TV writers - and the AMPTP have not been going well at all, with both sides claiming that the other is at fault. So for a new contract between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and the WGA this year, the studios, represented by the AMPTP, held out against many of the guild’s entirely reasonable demands, and we are, as of today, once again seeing the majority of Hollywood’s writers going on strike.įor anyone paying attention, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise. In 2007 the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike, and we all learned that writers are actually a really important part of making good movies and we should probably pay them fair wages. ![]()
